Objectives and competences

Student get acquainted to the process and methodology of public buildings design in a way that does not satisfies only the aesthetics, but also technical and functional requirements

Content (Syllabus outline)

Central topic - Public buildings: - analysis of contemporary trends in public buildings design - analysis of relationships between buildings and open space (development potentials and shortages) - concept and programme (solving the solution for the case built on selected location) - placement within the building plot - building typology - surfaces structure - programme conception (in variations) - functional joints - design concept of public building including a model and 3D-presentation

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

- apply the knowledge on the role and importance of space within public buildings conception; - use the methods of public buildings design - diversify the characteristics and requirements of different typologies in designing public buildings

Intended learning outcomes - transferable/key skills and other attributes

- to select appropriate elements of urban planning and architectural design of public buildings; - include the knowledge from differentiating professional and scientific into design of the public building.
