Objectives and competences

- to get acquainted with the typology of public buildings throughout history - to research and understand the relationship between the form and function of a public building – to master the basics of public buildings design – to understand the diverse approaches to reference examples from practice and related principles of public buildings design

Content (Syllabus outline)

The subject evaluates architectural planning of public buildings according to the following sets: the function of public buildings in space and time the role and significance of public buildings in time methods of classifying public buildings typology of public buildings basics of architectural design of public buildings architectural-technical elements of design of public buildings

Ob predavanjih in strokovnih ekskurzijah se izvaja seminarska vaja - projekt javnega objekta oziroma njegovega segmenta na konkretni lokaciji s podanim programom.

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

- identify typical problems of public buildings design in the spatial and architectural context - - demonstrate an understanding of the principles of public buildings design - integrate planning methods and techniques into the design of a public building project

Intended learning outcomes - transferable/key skills and other attributes

- design and prepare a public building project at the level of conceptual design and project - examine the process of a procedure of a project for the renovation of an architectural monument in the function of public building.
