Objectives and competences

- to be able to formulate the research topic and argue theoretical theses; - create a comprehensive project solution in the field of architecture, urbanism or spatial planning; - to know and take into account the key elements of urban architectural planning, taking into account the legislation and regulations related to the topic of master task.

Content (Syllabus outline)

Seminar: - Presentation of the procedure for preparing a master's thesis (Rules on the procedure for preparing and defending the final part of UM); - Selection of mentor and co-mentor -ev - Selection of the topic of the master's thesis and the method of submitting the thesis; - Appropriateness of the topic and scope of the master's thesis - Procedural processes (co-mentoring (at the faculty and outside the faculty), co-mentor from abroad, reasons for extension, reasons for changing the mentor, changing the topic, accessibility of the master's thesis); - Examples of good practice: presentation of diversity and scope mag. tasks, depending on the selected content. Master thesis: The content differs from the field the student chooses for the master thesis. The master thesis includes solving of specific theoretical or practical issue from the field of architecture or urban planning that student can solve individually but supervised by mentors. They have supervision above the work, they give advices with more difficult projects, that goes beyond the knowledge and skills that were received within the formal study process.

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

- Summarize the purpose and formulate the objectives of the production of mag. tasks (project tasks) - problem formulation; - Design the content of the project task (define the objectives of the research (review and analysis of previous research and relevant literature, setting research hypotheses); - Create a comprehensive project task with primary urban-architectural planning tools and presentation techniques (conceptual design, urban and architectural plans, detail); - Summarize the purpose of the task and present it Publicly (interpretation and critical assassment of the results of theoretical work or project work, design of the material for public presentation (oral exam and exhibition); - Design appropriate project solutions in the field of sustainable settlement development and sustainable architecture.
