I. del: Osnove materialov (40 %) – materiale razdelimo na kovine, keramike, polimere in kompozite ter obravnavamo in primerjamo njihovo
o strukturo na nano, mikro in makro nivoju ter
o fizikalne, mehanske, kemijske in reološke lastnosti.
II. del: Spoznavanje gradiv (40 %) – materiale razdelimo na konstrukcijske in izolacijske materiale, ter materiale za zaključne sloje, instalacije in stavbno opremo. Obravnavamo
o gradbeni kamen,
o gradbeno keramiko,
o veziva,
o beton,
o malte,
o asfalt,
o kovine in zlitine,
o les,
o gume in plastične mase,
o steklo.
III. del: Izbira materialov (20 %) – analiziramo primere objektov (npr. stanovanjski, trgovski, industrijski, športni objekti) in materiale, ki so bili uporabljeni za posamezne elemente stavbe, poiščemo alternativne rešitve in analiziramo ponudbo na tržišču dostopnih materialov ter izberemo optimalno gradivo.
