Objectives and competences

The student will: • understand the complexity of innovation management within the organisation, • understand the definitions, concepts and types of innovation, • draw insights from the most innovative and successful corporations to explore their innovation management approaches, • understand the applicability of methods and techniques in the field of innovation management.

Content (Syllabus outline)

1. Basic concepts of creativity and innovation in organisations. 2. Basic features of innovation in production and service processes. 3. Standards and guidelines in the field of innovation management in organisations. 4. Idea generation and problem solving techniques. 5. Measurement and evaluation of the performance of innovation processes. 6. Examination of the creative and innovative environment in organisations.

Intended learning outcomes - transferable/key skills and other attributes

Knowledge and understanding of: At the end of the course, the students will be able to: • identify key elements important for the development of creativity and implementation of innovative solutions in various business areas, • discuss various types of innovative processes, • analyse and interpret different strategies for innovation and the management practices, • apply the key planning elements of idea generation, • distinguish between the different methods that are useful in the fuzzy front end phase of innovation.
