Objectives and competences

Student is going to: 1. know the important theoretical concepts of business planning; 2. understand the entrepreneurial process, creativity, innovativeness; 3. know how to differentiate between entrepreneurs, innovators, owners, managers; 4. know how to differentiate between inventions and innovations and identification of business opportunities; 5. understand intrapreneurship; 6. know the various options of obtaining financing and other resources for business plan realization; 7. understand the role of incubators, accelerators, business angels, government support; 8. know, understand and be able to compile business plans; 9. understand the international aspects of business planning.

Content (Syllabus outline)

1. Introduction in business planning: concept, definition and development; 2. Entrepreneurial process, creativity, innovativeness; 3. Entrepreneur, innovator, owner, manager; 4. Entrepreneurial mindset and entrepreneurial curiosity; 5. Inventions and innovations, identifying business opportunities; 6. Intrapreneurship; 7. Business integration, franchising, diversification and business expansion; 8. Obtaining financing and other resources for business plan realization; 9. Incubators, accelerators, business angels, government support; 10. Business plan; 11. International aspects of business planning.

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

After successful completion of the course the student will be able to: • state and describe the theoretical concepts that comprise business planning; • distinguish between entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship; • distinguish between innovation and invention; • identify business opportunities; • compose or prepare a business plan; • identify the options and find resources to realize business plans.

- development of analytical, problem-solving, communication and business planning skills.
