Objectives and competences

• Student will:get knowledge and recognition of crises in organizations, • get knowledge and understand national framework and policy on crises, • get knowledge and understand the role of NGOs in crises, • differentiate between incident and state of emergency,. • get knowledge of the differences between prevention, protection, mitigation, response, recovery (5 mission areas of crisis management according to PPD-8), • get knowledge of the procedures of crisis course of action and know the difference between “before”, “during” and “after” crisis, • get knowledge of different crisis response teams and • understand the teamwork in crisis.

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

Knowledge and understanding: At the end of the course students will be able to: • know the concept of crisis management and the concept of holistic self-preparedness and preparedness of search & rescue subjects, • recognize and analyze of risks and threats in the given circumstances, • know the capability of immediate response (action-reaction), • understand the meaning of use of system thinking and emotional intelligence in crisis management and • get acquainted with quick identification and analysis of transition between different phases of crisis.

Prerequisits

The prerequisites for the exam are: • Completion of all obligations within lectures (completion of all assignments), • Completion of all obligations within the tutorial (completion of all exercises, attendance in all auditory tutorials). • Submitting and presenting a seminar paper is a prerequisite for the exam.
