A student at this subject: 1. In-depth understanding of selected methods and techniques of information systems development 2. To independently solve specific problems and opportunities in information systems development 3. To investigate and analyse a selected case of information systems development

Content (Syllabus outline)

1. The systems development environment 2. Identifying and selecting systems development projects 3. Initiating and planning development projects 4. Determining System Requirements (logic requirements, data requirements) 5. Designing the information system (databases, forms and reports, designing interfaces, designing distributed and web applications) 6. Implementation and maintenance of information systems 7. Methodologies for custom software development and implementation 8. Methodologies for implementing purchased software packages 9. Facilitating user computing 10. Automated tools for software development 11. Function points analysis

Learning and teaching methods

• Lectures and exercises • Independent and group work under supervision of the instructor • Independent study (seminar work) • Individual analysis of a selected case study • Participation in the discussion and evaluation of the presented papers and case studies • Learning by doing - SCRUM

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

Knowledge and understanding: • to differenciate between approaches and basic methods of information systems construction • to analyze selected cases and issues / opportunities in the development of an information systems • to argue problems and possible mistakes/errors in the development of an information system • to recommend an approach to develop an information system • to explain the risks and threats in the development of information systems
