Objectives and competences

The student will: • achieved a deeper understanding of the approaches, methods, and techniques used to implement and manage an asset management system • learn the principles of asset management • understand lifecycle management of assets • acquire the expertise to advise an organization on best practices for asset management systems

Content (Syllabus outline)

1. Terminology, definitions and principles of asset management. 2. The main terminology, concepts and principles of ISO 55001:2014 3. The main requirements of ISO 55001:2014 4. Elements of the asset management system in accordance to ISO 55001:2014 5. Other relevant standards related to asset management 6. Approaches, models, tools and techniques for managing assets at all phases of the asset lifecycle 7. Case studies related to asset management

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

Knowledge and understanding of: At the end of the course, the students will be able to: • analyse the key requirements for an asset management system • develop guidance on key asset management requirements at all phases of the asset lifecycle, from acquisition through operation and maintenance to final disposal • develop the basic building blocks of a strategic asset management plan • establish a baseline for asset management plans • assess the level of implementation and use of asset management processes, tools and techniques in the organisation
