Objectives and competences

The student will: • Understand the importance and role of product and service development management. • Know the differences in development management in each phase of the life cycle management. • Understand the connection between product and service development and other business functions. • Know the benefits and challenges of managing the life cycle of products and services. • Understood the impact of standardization on managing the development of products and services. • Know the use of primary tools and methods in the process of developing a new product or service.

Content (Syllabus outline)

1. Management of product and service development introduction and introduction of phases in their life cycle. 2. Product life cycle management - PLM (individual phases: characteristics, strategies, customer/stakeholder focus, etc.). 3. NPD process integration with other processes, systems, and software solutions. 4. Benefits and challenges of product and service lifecycle management. 5. Standardization impact the management of product and service development. 6. PLM systems, tools, and methods for a new product or service development support.

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

Knowledge and understanding of: At the end of the course, the students will be able to: • compare and interpret modern approaches to product and service development management • develop an appropriate PLM strategy at each stage of the product or service life cycle • design criteria for the selection and use of tools, methods, and techniques to improve the process of developing a new product or service • analyse the adequacy of data management within the PLM • compare and differentiate between different software solutions to support the life cycle management of a product or service.
