Objectives and competences

Students will develop generic competences of: a) analyzing and evaluating problems solving related to crisis management b) establishing resilience for functioning in stressful situations c) use of various communication skills, i.e. active listening, building trust in teams, feedback giving d) organization of team building activities, ability to work in a team and decision-making ability.

Definition of psychology and psychology of crisis management Psychology of decision-making with emphasis on crisis situations Stress Coping with stress and its consequences in crisis situations Personality in crisis situations Emotions and thoughts in crisis situations Understanding group dynamics Comunication in crisis situations

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

Knowledge and understanding: At the end of the subject, students will be able to: - describe the basic concepts of psychology in the field of crisis management; - - define what happens to people in a crisis situation in terms of emotions, cognition and behavior - critically evaluate social events in crisis situations using psychological skills - define the consequences of experiencing long-term stress and knows how to perform some techniques to reduce the consequences of stress - create a proper respond and communication in crisis situations - solve the basic psychological problems of crisis management.

Prerequisits

Basic knowledge of psychology is recommended. A condition for taking the exam is to submit a report from the exercises.
