Objectives and competences

Stubent will: • know the basics of self-protection and survival in CBRNE and TIM environment, self-aid, aid and triage, basic knowledge of personal decontamination, detailed knowledge of IPE and how it has to be don • Understand how to take prevention measures (household supplies) and signs og early warning of CBRNE in/or TIM events and other natural disasters • Determined and aware of the importance of upkeeping of health and hygiene for communicable diseases prevention upkeep of health and hygiene for communicable disease prevention • Will understand the ability of immediate involvement in the system of collective protection (COLPRO)

Content (Syllabus outline)

• Basic CBRNE survival skills – ability to: o recognize indications of CBRNE hazards or other types of release o recognize, communicate, and use CBRNE alarms and signals o properly don CBRN mask and hood o properly don protective clothing o take appropriate protective measures against CBRN hazards and thermal radiation o carry out an immediate individual decontamination drill o follow prescribed procedures for the removal of contaminated CBRN Individual Protective Equipment (IPE) o recognize if casualties are contaminated and perform first-aid o operate in case of Toxic Industrial Material release according to national legislation • Basic CBRNE operating skills – ability to: o maintain CRBN IPE in a high state of serviceability at all times o be proficient in taking specific actions required to maintain operating efficiency before, during, and after CBRN incidents in order to mitigate the effects of CBRN releases o recognize or detect chemical agent contamination and perform immediate personal decontamination of skin, clothing, personal equipment, position, vehicles etc. o recognize all standard marking signs that indicate areas with CBRN contamination o cross, or by-pass, marked CBRN contaminated areas with minimum danger to themselves or others o be familiar with basic procedures to be followed at decontamination facilities o be familiar with the principles of collective protection (COLPRO) • Food and drinking water supplies for households • Sheltering procedures • Warning and reporting • Simulation conditions (threat, operations, equipment, terrain and climate, environment and safety, personel and resources, assessment)

Learning and teaching methods

Lectures, tutorials, e-study, seminar and individual learning and preparation.

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

Knowledge and understanding: At the end of the lectures there will be students who demonstrate the ability to apply the theoretical and some practical starting points of the CBRNE and differentiate natural and offensive sppilage / outbreaks of TIM and highly comunicable diseases; Create various survival models of the CBRNE circumstances which efficiently contributes to the survival models and capability to operate in the CBRN/E environment
