Objectives and competences

The student will: • Acquaint the knowledge of development of psychology; • Understand the basic concepts in the field of psychology; • Acquaint the knowledge of perception and sensory psychology; • Know and understand theories and modern scientific findings related to behaviour, motivation and personality; • obtain knowledge about psychological topics, which are notably related with sport achievements, management in sport organizations, and maintenance of physical and mental well-being as well as promotion of healthier life style. Competences: • Understanding of basic concepts in the field of psychology. • Students will be able to use the knowledge of psychology for understanding of sport in modern society and action in the field of management in sport.

Knowledge and understanding: Upon completion of this course, the student will: - Differentiate between the basic terms of psychology as a science; - Understand the functioning of perceptual and higher cognitive processes; - Understand the functioning of motivational and emotional processes; - Know the basics of the fields of personality psychology, developmental psychology and social psychology; - Distinguish between mental processes, personality and behaviour, - Identify psychological insights in sport management.
