Objectives and competences
Course objectives are to:
• present the concept of organizational behaviour
• explain the role of individual’s characteristics and personality on company performance
• present ways of forming and performing of work groups within the organization
• explain the role of organization in wider social context
• give an insight into international perspective of organizational operations
Competencies that are gained by the students are:
• understanding the concept of organizational behaviour and its importance in long term engagement of employee in organization.
• recognize the importance of treating employees as an added value within the organization rather than the expense of organization.
Content (Syllabus outline)
The basic topics of this course are:
• Introduction to understanding the importance of human capital and organizational behavior: the definition eats, development of organizational management, organizational behavior, as part of management;
• micro level: the individual and his zančilnosti and personality; diversity management employees; perception, decision-making, assessment, creativity; Work motivation and efficiency at work; job satisfaction;
• meso level: the concept of the informal organization; groups in the organization, group dynamics, decision-making in groups, teams and teamwork efficiency, improve processes in a team; management of groups and organizations; negotiations; workplace violence;
• macro level: organizational structure, processes and dynamics; power, politics and conflict; organizational culture and climate; change and organizational development;
• organizational behavior in an international perspective: cultural diversity, globalization and people at work.

This course uses a range of teaching methods including:
• Lectures.

• Case studies.
• Individual study.
Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding
Knowledge and understanding:
The foreseen study results of a students are shown in:
• understanding the concept of organizational behaviour in tourism
• ability to analyse individual’s characteristics and personal traits and their influence on organizational performance
• understanding the ways that team form and perform within the organization
• ability to identify and determine the role of organization within wider social context.

Written examination. 50%
Active work in seminars: assignments and presentations 50%
For completition of the course both parts of the final grade have to be grated positive!
