Objectives and competences
Objectives of the course are:
• to give the basic concepts of sport and sports tourism,
• explain types of sports tourism,
• explain opportunities for the development of sports tourism in Slovenia,
• explain the importance and complexity of organizing sports events
• explain trends in sports tourism and the most established forms of sports tourism in Slovenia and the world
• explain the economic effects and importance of marketing in sports tourism
Competences that are gained by the students are:
• knowledge and understanding of basic phenomena and concepts in the field of sports tourism
• Understanding the importance of integrating individually tailored sports programs into the tourist offer of the destination
• the ability to apply theoretically acquired knowledge in the field of sports tourism in practice
• in-depth understanding of the connection between sporting activity and sustainable tourism

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

At the end of the course, student will be able to:
• Knowledge and understanding of basic concepts in the field of sports tourism.
• Knowledge of types of sports tourism Understanding sport and integrating it in the broadest sense into a tourist profession.
• Understanding sports tourism as an economic activity
• Identifying potential opportunities for development of sports tourism to the selected destination.
• Use specific knowledge in the field of sports for the development of sports tourism in Slovenia
