An overview of criminological research in Slovenia
Trends of criminological research in contemporary society
Crime control and policy making
Measurement of effects of crime control and prevention policy (evaluation).
Practical crime control policies.
A literature review and research design – PhD research proposal and supervision of a candidate.
Drafting an article, presentation on a conference and paper submission.
Intended learning outcomes - transferable/key skills and other attributes
Knowledge and Understanding:
The curse introduces students to major theoretical and practical concepts causes and patterns of crime as well as its control. Students have to draft a PhD research proposal and a paper.
Transferable/Key Skills and other attributes:
The course enables students to develop skills and knowledge for understanding of causes and patterns of crime as well as national and international crime control policies, strategies and practices. The students learn how to do a literature review and writing of a scientific article related to their PhD thesis.
