Objectives and competences
Goal of the subject is to introduce contemporary concepts and explanations of workplace deviance, using different theories and approaches. Students will understand causes of deviant behavior of employees and get the knowledge for management of workplace deviance.

- Unwanted behavior at the workplace
o Violence at the workplace
o Aggression at the workplace
o Bullying and mobbing at the workplace
- Causes of deviant behavior at the workplace
o Personal causes of deviant behavior
? Frustration, depression, cynicism
o Organizational causes of deviant behavior
- Risks posed by the organization’s environment
- Management of deviant behavior at the workplace
Learning and teaching methods
The course will consist of lectures, seminars, discussions, case analyses, individual and group projects, as well as individual consultations with the instructor.
Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding
Students acquire knowledge of different types of workplace deviance, understand the causes of this behavior and understand the impact of unwanted behavior on organizational efficiency.
Intended learning outcomes - transferable/key skills and other attributes
Using case studies and interpreting empirical results of surveys from the field, students acquire skills to recognize different types of workplace deviance and to plan measures for countering the workplace deviance.

Additional information on implementation and assessment Student’s commitments: Within the course, students will have to complete seminar paper. The presence is mandatory for the seminar and the tutorial. A passing grade for the seminar project and a minimum of 80 % attendance at the seminar, the tutorial and during lectures are prerequisites for taking the examination.
