Objectives and competences

- To acquaint students with organisationof national security subjects. - To acquaint students with thegovernance and management processes in security organisations. - To enable students to analyze the specific organizational processes and structures - both formal and informal - in the field of security. - To enable students to independently carry out empirical research on organization in the field of security. - To enable students for project work.

Content (Syllabus outline)

1. Introduction to organization - Definition of organization - Organizational structures - Organizational processes 2. Management and Leadership 3. Decision making process 4. Organizational social responsibility 5. Characteristics of projects and project methodology

Learning and teaching methods

The subject will consist of lectures, tutorials, case studies, discussions on current topics, group and individual consultations and preparation of research and project work. Special attention is focused on students' active participation in discussions and exercises.

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

The course introduces students to understanding of the theoretical and practical organizational concepts with focus on specificities of security organizations.

Intended learning outcomes - transferable/key skills and other attributes

Students acquire the ability to analyze organizational processes and structures in security organizations and the ability to conduc empirical research and project work in the field of organisational aspects of security.
