Objectives and competences

Student: • Get to know competencies and responsibilities in pediatric nursing care, • develop communication skills, learned child care and interventions in the pediatric field, • understands and knows the principles of the Code of Ethics in Nursing and Care of Slovenia

Content (Syllabus outline)

Clinical practice is performed on the Paediatric clinic, UKC Maribor and the Dornava Institute and dislocated units of Dornava under the supervision of mentors and faculty coordinator. Students individually investigate specific nursing problems of premature children and the young and treat them according to the process method of nursing care. They perform procedures and interventions with newborn children, babies, children and adolescents under the mentor supervision and followed the orders from the doctor. Complete nursing documentation and present a case study. Use the reference book of NANDA nursing diagnosis and form a nursing diagnosis. Tutors in the present clinical practice students five examples of good practice.

Knowledge and Understanding: Student will be able to: • Provide of holistic nursing care in paediatrics, • Identify the nursing diagnosis, based on health assessment, plan nursing interventions, provide and evaluate nursing care in the chosen patient. • Recognize and assess emergency conditions in children. • Performed a Health education of children and parents
