Objectives and competences

Student will: • be able to understand the theoretical definitions, historical development and philosophical debates of mixed methods research, • understand basic mixed methods research designs, • understand methods and techniques of data collection mixed methods research, • be able to prepare a mixed methods research design.

• Definition of mixed methods research. • The historical background and philosophy of the mixed methods research. • Research question in mixed methods research. • Overview of basic mixed methods research designs. • Methods and techniques of data collection in mixed methods research.

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

Knowledge and Understanding: On completion of this course the student will be able to: • explain characteristics of mixed methods research, • describe philosophy of mixed methods research, • describe the techniques and methods of data collection in mixed methods research.

Transferable/Key Skills and other attributes: • communication skills: presentation of the project, oral expression in oral examination, • use of information technology: use programs tools for preparing and editing documents, presentations and citation, • group work.
