Objectives and competences

The objective of the subject is: • to develop disposition for conducting, capacity of concentration and quick manual reaction in music occurence and to spread with intelectual work the disposition of musical comprehension and a manner of expression, • to bild up a proper singing voice, • to develop the voice, • to express the text, • to join text and music, • to recognize harmonical elements, • to interpret folk song, • to bring singers to hear other voices in choir.

Content (Syllabus outline)

• conductor as the main person on the stage, • the technics of hands and arms, • conductors' schemes, • the independence of arms, • implementation of the conductors' technics, with regard to the score, • changing of tactus, • exercises for the interpretation, • technical exercises in conducting, • piano playing in manner of playing piano of the score. Vocal training: • exercises for the diaphragm, • warming up, • vowel equalizing, • register equalizing, • exercises for voice volumenizing, • mezzavoce. Slovene folk song: • connection of word and music, • dialects, • articulation of single vowels and consonants, • dynamics, • agogics, • ritmical specialties, • style, • global interpretation.

Learning and teaching methods

• group and individual work, preparation to work with the choir, • role-playing games, • group singing.

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

On completion of the course the student will be able to: • use the acquired knowledge and manual skillfulness to lead the choir, • to combine theoretical and practical knowledge, • sing properly (vocal technique), • analyse and connect the art of lyrics and music and adopt the interpretation, • transfer the singing of folk song to primary school and into other educational processes, • understanding and performing folk songs, • be able to presentat music on piano.

Intended learning outcomes - transferable/key skills and other attributes

The abbility to understand musical contents and written records and their transfer to conducting moves sound presentation of music contents on piano student gets the ability of understanding and performing folk song. transfers the singing of folk song to primary schools and other education processes.
