Objectives and competences
The goal of the course is to develop an analytical mastery of the musical text in terms of composition and design, and to understand and practically master instrumental skills.
Content (Syllabus outline)
• Getting to know the piano.
• Creating a single tone.
• Understanding simple musical notation.
• Repetition of the simplest musical motifs.
• Observing and playing the simplest dynamic contrasts (loud-quiet).
• Playing songs accompanied by the teacher.
• Playing songs with both hands, depending on the level of prior knowledge.
• Use of musical terms: musical notation, note, rest, rhythm, melody, bar, bar, end, repeat sign, metronome, note values and rests, basic and compound time signatures, treble clef and bass clef, musical notation, notes for pitching and descending tones as well as decoupler, pre-beat, major scales and natural minor scales, major and minor fifth chords with turns, major major degrees, transposition, dynamics, tempo and agogic markings.
• Playing rhythmic content.
• Getting to know domestic and foreign compositions.
• Deepening technical skills and knowledge in the process of creating an interpretation.

-J. S. Bach: Little Preludes
-W.A. Mozart and Haydn: Lighter Sonatas
-E. Grieg: Lyrical compositions
-Slovenian compositions for youth

After completing this course, the student will be able to

Additional information on implementation and assessment Public presentation (50%)
Written exam with musical examples (40%)
Participation in the pedagogical process (10%)
• All performances are performed by heart.
• 80% attendance at rehearsals is required.
Conditions for taking the exam:
- 80% attendance at exercises
- 90% attendance at lectures
- all pre-agreed obligations of the course (exercises, seminar assignments, performances, reports, music reviews, etc.) completed with the course instructor.
Any part of the exam applies exclusively to the current academic year and does not carry over to the next academic year.
