Objectives and competences
The objective of the subject is:
• to join the simple elements of music notation into conducting,
• to fortify singing technique,
• to recognize works of romantic period,
• to learn interpretation of romantic period.
Content (Syllabus outline)
• to unit the elements of music writing into conducting,
• to beat simple unisonous works,
• to beat and later to conduct simpler two- or three-voiced coral works,
• development of the voice,
• works by romantic composers.
Learning and teaching methods
• group and individual work, preparation to work with the choir,
• role-playing games,
• group singing.
Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding
On completion of the course of choir conducting the student will be able:
• to combine theoretical and practical knowledge,
• to use the acquired knowledge and manual skillfulness to lead the choir,
• to upgrade the singing technique,
• to be able to do the realisation of atmosphere in romantic compositions,
• to identify and analyse harmonies of romantic period,
• to transfer the singing of compositions written by romantic composers to primary schools and other education processes,
• to distinguish the interpretation of the folk song and compositions written by romantic composers,
• to conduct the youth and children's choir.

Prerequisits
80% attendance of tutorial is required to take the exam.
