Objectives and competences

The objective of the subject is to develop an analytical command over musical notation in the compositional and formative sense as well as understanding and gaining practical command in solo and chamber music.

Content (Syllabus outline)

• Playing instrumental compositions regarding the level of previous knowledge. • Playing compositions from different music periods. • Further understanding and use of musical subjects : staff, note, rest, rhythm, melody, time, bar line, end mark, repeat mark, metronome, note and rest symbols, basic and composed time signatures, g clef, musical notation, sharp, flat and natural symbol, pre-time, major and natural minor scales, major and minor fifth chords with turns, main degrees in major, transposition, dynamics, tempo and agogic marks. • The proper technique of playing. • Dealing with contemporary notation of medium difficulty. • Qualifying for chamber group music performances. • Further development of musical styles. • Nurturing the musical recollection. • Further study and development of instrumental techniques through the process of creating an interpretation.

• Practical work with lesson planing. • Teaching through modern technology.

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

On completion of this course the student will be able to • Use the acquired knowledge in performing solo and chamber music. • Link theoretical and practical knowledge. Transferable/Key skills and other attributes: • Solving problems: The ability to understand and perform musical contents in chamber music. • Communicational skills: The abbility and instrumental expression in the process of teaching and later professional career.
