Objectives and competences

• Knowledge and understanding of the development and importance of intercultural education and IME. • Knowledge and understanding of models of intercultural education and ways of adjusting educational work. • Knowledge, understanding and use of documents and starting points for planning and implementing IME at different stages of the educational process. • Developing the capacity for interculturalism. • Planning and implementation of IME. • Analysis and evaluation of the design and implementation of the IME. • Transfer of cultural characteristics into the pedagogical framework through movement and dance creation.

Content (Syllabus outline)

• Development of multicultural (intercultural) education. • Dimensions and goals of intercultural education. • Model of intercultural education • The scope, forms and ways of adapting the educational work. • The challenges of interculturalism in education. • Guidelines for the inclusion of immigrant children in kindergartens and schools. • Developing the capacity for interculturalism. • The role of music teacher in intercultural education. • Traditional music. • Goals of Intercultural Music Education (IME). • Starting points, planning and implementation of IME. • Interdisciplinary interactions in IME. • The problem of authenticity in IME. • Selection and interpretation of music content in IME. • Movement and dance creation in IME.

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

Knowledge and understanding: Student will: • Explais the content under consideration in the field of: dimensions, goals, challenges and models, intercultural education. • Explain the discussed content in the field of goals, starting points for planning and implementation of IME, the role of the teacher in IME, the importance of traditional music, criteria for selection and interpretation of musical content. • Design learning preparations and implement learning units by including IME in a simulated learning environment. • Argue and define the problem of authenticity in IME. • Analyze and evaluate his/her performance of the teaching unit and the performance of a fellow student. • When implementing the learning process, considered the principles of interdisciplinarity and the selection criteria for selection of music content. • Demonstrate a willingness to develop one's own attitude towards interculturality. • Create movement/dance on a given topic • Incorporateselements of movement and dance creation, while executing IME
