Objectives and competences
To familiarize the students with the basics of constructing drawings in order to be able to:
- recognize the quality of drawing works from the history of art and today,
- master the drawing construction of complex forms based on the construction of simple geometric bodies,
- design and create a perspectivist drawing,
- use the sighting technique as an aid in transferring images from 2D to 3D,
- gain the ability to see (first source) and the ability to comprehend (second source),
- understand the historical context of the Renaissance space and the use of perspective in representational art, as well as using this knowledge in practice,
- understand the value of errors as an important study tool,
- draw though observation.
Content (Syllabus outline)
- Symbolic and operational aspects of perspectivist representations.
- Invention and history of perspectivist representation.
- Construction of basic geometric bodies.
- The basics of constructing more complex forms with the help of geometric shapes and bodies.
- Perspectivist representation of angular and soft shapes.
- Perspective as a symbolic significance grid.
- Spatial studies (horizon and vanishing point ellipse mirroring, shadows ...).
- Sighting as an aid in transferring an image from 3D to 2D.
- Planning of a scenographic environment.
- Planning of the spatial formation of the urban whole.
- Stereometric and planimetric drawing principles.
- Drawing genres and techniques.
- Final exhibition.
Learning and teaching methods
Individually:
- individual artistic guidance (explanation, discussion, demonstration)
- consultations, help in searching the appropriate material for studio work.
In groups:
- visiting most important fine art exhibitions with organised guidance and study excursions.
Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding
After successfully completing the module, the students will:
- acquire spatial imagination,
- be able to construct simple and complex forms with drawing tools,
- understand the proportions,
- understand and master spatial plans,
- be familiar with spatial keys and know how to use them in practical work.
Intended learning outcomes - transferable/key skills and other attributes
The mastery of perspective and spatial imagination are the key knowledge areas on which the student’s further studies are based. The student can use his drawing skills in other fine arts subjects, such as painting, sculpture or the graphic arts, i.e. in areas such as the design of space etc...
