- Familiarise students with various theories and practices related to the subject of the course,
- train students for individual artistic work relevant to the course,
- train students for pedagogic work relevant to the course.
Content (Syllabus outline)
Theoretical subjects:
- analysis of sculptural portraits with emphasis on modern (A. Rodin, G. Manzu, A. Giacometti, ...) and contemporary sculptural portraits (M. Quinn, D. Tršar, M. Begić, …),
- sculpture in public space (site-specific sculpture, environmental art, land art, street art, …),
- object art (found object, readymade) with emphasis on the analysis of sculptures by Constantin Brancusi, Marcel Duchamp, Alberto Giacometti, Joseph Beuys, Daniel Buren, Claes Oldenburg/Coosje van Bruggen, ...),
- technological foundations of traditional and contemporary sculptural techniques related to carving (direct carving, 4 axis CNC carving, ...).
Creative exercises:
- sculpting a portrait after a photograph,
- creating a computer animation and a model of an individual proposal for a sculpture in public space,
- object-based sculpture,
- creating a sculpture on the basis of a carving technique,
- final exhibition.

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding
- Knowledge and understanding of theoretical and practical aspects of portrait sculpture, object-based sculpture, sculpture in public space, and sculpture made with various carving techniques,
- knowledge and understanding of important artists and their artworks that relate to the subject of the course,
- ability of critical analysis and presentation of selected theoretical treatises and works of art,
- ability to individually create artistic proposals and works of art that relate to the contents of the course.

Prerequisits
There are no specific prerequisites.
Minimum 80% attendance at tutorials and successfully completed exercises during the study process, which are in accordance with the corrections provided by the professor, are obligatory for the accession to the exam.
