Objectives and competences
The student will be acquainted:
-with the transfer of body configuration to a two-dimensional dimension,
- by working the effects and functioning of perspective relationships, the illusions he will be able to integrate into relief modeling,
- with methods of classical relief modeling
- by acting of the optical mechanisms and constructing images so that students can integrate them into the creative sculpting process,
- with various practical sculptural skills in modeling and constructing relief, casting processes and other technical and applied processes;
The student will:
- be able to develop a variety of creative interpretations that enable individual sculpting approaches,
- be able to apply the knowledge and understanding of the importance of the transformation of the acquired fine arts contents from the field of sculpture into the art pedagogical practice,
- be able to integrate his knowledge in solving creative project tasks and problems;
- be able to provide content independently in connection with programs in pre-teaching work.
Content (Syllabus outline)
Contents of the Sculpture IV syllabus inform the students:
- by modeling classical relief;
- with the problems of illusion (shortening action) and the technique of transferring the proportions of a figure to a clay support,
- with the various technologies of gypsum and its uses in the design and manufacture of an aesthetically usable object,
- with an analysis of sculpture of high modernism and contemporary sculpture (emphasis by Richard Serra, Richard Deacon, Tony Craigg, Bill Woodrow ...)
- by analyzing the concept of view, the interaction of geometrical and optical structure in relation to space, object, viewer (with emphasis on Rodin's work: Doors),
-by creating artistic three-dimensional sculptures in proportion to the human body with various techniques and their placement in the simple laws of artistic installations.
Learning and teaching methods
- lectures,
- analysis of theoretical and visual material,
- visiting of current exhibitions,
- individual consultations and corrections,
- independent analysis of gypsum technology material,
- creating, presenting and defending your own artistic processes used in creating your own artwork.
Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding
Knowledge and understanding:
The student will:
- understand the basic knowledge of sculpture, which is related to the content of the relief, its methods of production in different artistic periods and spatial placements,
- understand the rules and ways of structuring the image of a figure or object on a two-dimensional clay surface and will be able to follow the rules of abbreviations,
- master the process as well as various types of modeling the relief,
- acquainted with the basic principles of the interaction of the geometric and optical mesh in order to be able to apply them in the creative process,
- master the structure of the sculptural image and its holder and will know how to use it in artistic creation,
- interdisciplinary integrate basic knowledge and procedures of understanding of art installations,
- independently mastered the technology of plaster for making models, with which he will be able to present his artistic ideas in different situations.
