Objectives and competences

The objective of this course is to familiarize the students with: - basic knowledge and understanding of developmental characteristics, differences and needs, as well as a comprehensive understanding of children, content and didactic characteristics of working with different groups of students, learning about differentiated and individualized forms of adaptation, developmental laws, differences and needs of an and creative problem solving. - transfer the theoretical knowledge of special pedagogy into art education practice, - know individualized educational programmes and syllabuses in inclusive schools, - plan and evaluate fine art lessons in different educational programmes, - interdisciplinarity.

Content (Syllabus outline)

Art education in terms of different educational programmes: adjustments in mainstream schools, schools of lower educational standard and adapted educational programmes of equal educational standard, including: - children with special needs, twice-exceptional students (with deficits and areas of giftedness/or a talent), - learning about fine art syllabi in different educational programmes, - educational and development goals, content, learning environment, learning technologies, lesson plans and other documentation, characteristics of artistic development of a child and adolescent, evaluation, - characteristics and implementation of fine art lessons and projects in different educational programmes, developing creativity, - team work and cooperation among teachers, special education pedagogues and other experts, - individualised programmes.

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

- know educational programmes for children with special needs, - know, understand and apply the fine art syllabi in different educational programmes, - know and understand the developmental, learning and socio-emotional characteristics of children, - apply the characteristics of artistic expression as a tool to stimulate the development of children, - identify and encourage the students to upgrade their artistic and expressive style, - adapt the work of art education to the developmental age and other distinctive features of the target group of students from different educational programmes, - identify and take into account the interindividual differences and special needs of students, - know and understand the introducing of adjustments in the educational process, - participate in an individualized programme.
