Objectives and competences

The objective of this course is to develop the competence for communication through art and with art, to acquaint with basics of puppet art, connection and interlacing with other scene arts (drama, film), realizing the meaning of art esthetic education in whole and meaning of this for preschooll child and school child development, realizing the methods of using puppets in everyday life in classroom or with single child through different activities of educational process, methods for child creativity stimulation, realizing the ways of creative thinking and working, meaningfull subject content colaboration with other subjects and subject areas.

Content (Syllabus outline)

The Role of performing Arts in Human's Life: the development of dramatic arts for children and with children, the child's creative dramatic play and puppetry play, the communication of child with art. • Theater, Film, Puppet Theater- Features: Puppet theater history, texts for puppet theater, technologies of different puppet types, simple puppetry techniques and basis of animation, art theory and materials, space organization (scene, stage), speach and performing art, music and screen play, meaning of lighting • Child and the Puppet: puppet in nursery school and primary school, methods of using puppets in educational process, the possibilities of including puppet in other contents of educational process.

Learning and teaching methods

lectures with visual resources, • tutorials and lab works for senzibilation, speech, improvisation, animation, dramatisation, puppet manufacturing and scenography are performed in workshops with active collaboration of students, • seminar: visit to Puppet Theater Maribor, workshops, exhibitions and museums, seminar impression cultivation.

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

On completion of this course the student will be able to: • be aware of the meaning of puppet creation for child socialisation and development of creativity in multiple areas • demonstrate knowledge of communication with performing arts • reestablish the criterion for judging art creations intended for the child

Intended learning outcomes - transferable/key skills and other attributes

Student: • is able to include puppet and dramatic patterns in working process in nursery and primary school in different areas of educational process • develops his own creativity, criticism and feeling for education through art.
