Objectives and competences

The objective of this course is to provide students with basic musical-theoretical knowledge and learn the basics of playing different instruments, especially keyboard instruments. They gradually increase their knowledge and skills into analytical mastery of musical notation in the compositional and formative sense, as well as understanding and practical mastery of vocal-instrumental skills, while expanding the repertoire of folk and children's songs.

Content (Syllabus outline)

• Musical theory introduction: reading, understanding and using musical notes. • Basics of playing instruments with keys (piano, synthesizer). • Creating rhythmic and melodic accompaniments, playing rhythmic contents with improvised, own and Orff instruments. • Basic vocal techniques. • Expanding the repertoire of Slovene and foreign folk songs, children's songs. • Single and double voice singing of Slovene folk and artificial songs with improvised instrumental third voice or cadences.

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to: • use the acquired knowledge in performing less complicated musical skills and integrate theoretical and practical knowledge, • create and perform musical content and design various harmonic accompaniments on the piano, • express themselves aesthetically – vocally and instrumentally, in the primary school learning process and later on, in professional career.
