Objectives and competences
The objective of this course is to deepen students’ basic musical-theoretical knowledge and to upgrade the basics of playing Orff and keyboard instruments. Knowledge and skills gradually escalate to aesthetic vocal-instrumental performances and interpretations. Students use their compositional and design knowledge in their own musical creativity. They are trained to conduct pupils’ vocal, instrumental and vocal-instrumental ensembles, while working at the school.
Content (Syllabus outline)
• Musical theory: deepening the knowledge needed to understand and analyse musical material and create instrumental accompaniments.
• Design of instrumental accompaniments (one voice and polyphonic accompaniment, harmonic accompaniment).
• Independent management of vocal, instrumental and vocal-instrumental groups.
• Performance analysis.
• Enhancing the technique of playing keyboard instruments and Orff instruments.
• Own musical creativity (independent creation of shorter melodic-rhythmic patterns, songs, compositions and musical fairy tales).

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
• use the acquired knowledge in mastering musical skills,
• perform musical content skilfully and aesthetically,
• fluently read the notes of simple children's songs,
• show a degree of originality in their own musical creativity,
• form and use/perform various harmonic accompaniments on the piano.
