Objectives and competences

The objective of this course is to acquaint students with the basics of fine arts language, to stimulate interest in art problems, to acquaint students with the peculiarities of children's artistic expression and to enable them to express their own artistic expression. Students are able to interpret their own work of art and relate it to the contents of the ART curriculum. Students are able to plan their own graphic design strategies and link them to teaching.

Content (Syllabus outline)

Introduction to Fine Art Theory Fields of fine arts, fine arts in the curriculum. Artistic elements, visual morphology and visual variables. Basics of colour theory: colour contrasts and their expressive characteristics. Design basics on the surface (drawing, painting, graphics) and in space (sculpture, architecture). Layers of fine art. Motives in fine arts.

Learning and teaching methods

Lectures in which students engage actively (explanation, discussion, questions, examples), Practical art making (individual art tasks).

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

Ability to identify the fields of fine arts and their means of expression and to understand the essence of expression in the plot and in space. Identification of color contrasts and description of their expressive characteristics. Definition of basic sculptural concepts and breakdown of the concept of architecture and urbanism. Definition of the art composing function.
