Objectives and competences

Students: • get acquainted with the specifics of the didactics of • of the Environmental and Social Studies (ESS) • get acquainted with the basic characteristics of the syllabuses of the subjects ESS • they are familiar with the historical development of the ESS subjects • get acquainted with different ways of planning the subjects ESS • are able to plan and prepare didactic materials on the basis of an awareness of the elements of sustainable development in the curricula of environmental and social studies • Gain insight into the lessons of the subjects EES • acquire the knowledge and skills to analyse the lessons of ESS • Know and understand which learning resources, teaching aids and digital resources are appropriate for learning ESS subjects and know how to integrate them into lessons • know how to work together

Content (Syllabus outline)

• Presentation of didactics of the Environmental and Social Studies (ESS) • Characteristics and "reading" of the syllabuses for the Environmental and Social Studies subjects • Historical overview of the development of the ESS subjects • Designing courses on learning about the ESS subjects(annual preparation, thematic preparation, preparation for direct learning) • Elements for analyzing and hospitating lessons in ESS subjects • Basic recommendations for performing lessons in ESS • Examples of teaching lessons for learning Environmental and social studies. • Sources of knowledge and teaching aids in learning about ESS

Learning and teaching methods

• lectures • seminar • lab work • fieldwork • excursion • homework assignments • using digital technologies in the classroom to support teaching • use of mobile devices in the field

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to: • describe and explain the specifics of the didactics of the Environmental and Social Studies • interpret and apply lesson plans to learn Environmental and Social Studies subjects • to evaluate the historical development of the Environmental and Social Studies subjects • plan lessons for learning the Environmental and Social Studies subjects on the different levels • analyse and evaluate lessons of the Environmental and Social Studies subjects to certain criteria • use appropriate teaching and learning resources to teach the Environmental and Social Studies subjects • teamwork
