Objectives and competences

The objective of this course is to introduce evaluation and analysis of works of art made by artists and children to the students and enable them to comprehend the relation between art contents, form and its elements which are all expressed in an art problem, through practical art making. Care for correct use of the Slovenian language in written communication (seminar).

Content (Syllabus outline)

Art evaluation and analysis: attending art exhibitions of modern artists in addition to analysis o fart elements and contents of exhibited works of art, observing exhibition guiding with elements of museum pedagogy, analysis of formal art elements and contents of exemplary works of art from the world treasury, attending quality exhibitions of children art work Practice in art making: individual interpretation and execution of a defined art task with the emphasis on problem matter, art making in a gallery with the emphasis on artistic remake of a selected work of art.

Learning and teaching methods

University lectures in which students engage actively (explanation, discussion, questions, examples), lectures in museums and galleries in which students engage actively, practical art making (individual art tasks).

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

On completing this course the student should be able: · to define parametres of formal analysis of a work of art, · to define basic art contents or form-oriented purpose of art elements, · to define the use and expressiveness of art elements in children's works, · to understand the relation between art contents, form and elements exposed in an art problem, to understand the basic outlines of museum-gallery pedagogical work.
