Objectives and competences

Studet: - interprets basic legislation of cooperation with parents and knows how to use them in practice; - develops an interest in flexible forms of cooperation with parents; - explains the importance of personal relations and communication for working with parents; - develops self-reflection; - establishes an enabling environment for the active involvement of parents; - considers meaningful solutions to situations;

Content (Syllabus outline)

• The legal definitions of parents' inclusion into the educational process; • Educational styles of parents and communication with them; • Andragogy specifics of working with adults related to the specifics tasks of working with parents; • The meaning of pedagogical collaboration: student – teacher – parents; • The traditional forms of teachers collaborations with parents; • The open school and the types of work with parents; • Pedagogical communication as a pedagogical relation; • Expected teachers' competences for efficient work with parents; • Organisation of different types of meetings with the parents;

lecture, the method of discourse, problem-solving, method of display, method of teaching through text, cooperative learning.

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

On completion of this course, the student will be able to: • prepare a plan of collaboration with parents; • identify the specifics of working with parents; • apply pedagogical communication in different circumstances of working with parents; • argument and assess situations regarding cooperation with parents; • implement constructive forms of cooperation with parents;

Prerequisits

There are no prerequisites for admission to the course. Requisite for attending the exam: Positive grade for the tutorial. A pass mark in the course is based on a score of more than 50% in the written examination.
