Objectives and competences
The objective of the course is for students to deepen music didactic knowledge and to effectively and qualitatively use it in analysing and evaluating the performance of musical activities and activities of musical literacy in music education lessons in the first and second cycle of primary school. Students learn to solve complex musical-didactical problems and practical challenges in various contexts.
Content (Syllabus outline)
• A teacher's role and personality: communication, monitoring and work analysis, reflection, action research.
• Organisation of music education: from sound and tonal qualities to movement, rhythm, and dance; singing, harmonizing and playing melodic instruments; understanding musical forms.
• Musical abilities and skills, musical giftedness, talent, creativity. The creative process of music education.
• Musical evaluation and assessment.
• Analysing and evaluating the performance of musical activities, content and activities of musical literacy.
• Selected topics (music, historical development, musical instruments, children's folk song, author's song for children, musical forms, tempo, dynamics, agogics).
• Solving more complex musically-didactical problems in different contexts.

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to
• plan musical lessons,
• choose methods for all musical activities,
• use the acquired knowledge for a practical application in the field of musical lessons,
• to evaluate and assess students' work and their own work,
• use information technology,
• to solve musically-didactical problems in various contexts and present them with aesthetic and linguistic expertise, using the Slovene literary language.
