Objectives and competences
• Enable the students to use appropriate scientific sources,
• enable the students to use empirical pedagogical research methods in sport,
• enable student to use classic or web based ways of data collection,
• train students to carry out, in a team or individually, simple non-experimental empirical research in sport,
• to prepare the students for writing research reports, empirical seminar and diploma work,
• training students to use modern and open-source statistics programs,
• train students to retrieve data and information from digital databases,
• introduction of students to artificial intelligence tools in the field of research,
• training students to critically evaluate information obtained from the internet.
Content (Syllabus outline)
• The role of the coach in the research (as mediator and validator of data, colleague, reseacher, mentor).
• Citations – APA standard
• Quantitative research method in sports
• Basic statistical terms (statistical population, sample, variable, parameter, parameter estimation).
• Basic methods of descriptive statistics and inferential statistics.
• Statistical parameters – meaning of values
• Statistical analysis of the data by using of SPSS
• Case study in analysis of the data of the selected sports discipline by using of SPSS.

Knowledge and understanding:
• know and understand basic methodological and statistical terms,
• ability to use scientific sources,
• abilty tu use research techniques, ways of statistical analysing of the data on the level of descriptive and inferential statistics,
• able to use modern open source statistical programs,
• evaluate the results of the analysis and relate them to phenomena from the practice of sports training,
• critically evaluate the information obtained.
