Content (Syllabus outline)

• Introduction: definitions, connecting business processes with information systems, informatization of business processes. • Modeling: comparison and selection of an appropriate business process modeling technique in informatization. • Business process re-engineering lifecycle: description of re-engineering phases, execution of individual phases and communication with stakeholders. • Data collection: initial activities for business process informatization, planning of the data collection and data processing process in a business environment. • Business process simulation: selecting appropriate technique and tools for business process simulation, building as-is and to-be model, creating new system variants, running the simulation. • Determination of informatization areas: finding bottlenecks of the business process, cost-benefit analysis of the existing process, processing of simulation results and comparison of different business process variants. • Monitoring: tools and techniques for real-time monitoring of business processes, notification, action and reporting.

Learning and teaching methods

• lectures, case studies and examples, lab work, project, individual work.

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding
