Objectives and competences

The course is designed for students, which know the basis of Slovene language (reading, writing, speaking on the basic level), because it is continuation of the initial course of Slovene language. During the course student upgrades: his communication knowledge in most common everyday situations, his vocabulary, listening, reading and understanding written texts. Student learns writing practical texts and texts on specific topic. Course allows student to reach upper intermediate level of Slovene language knowledge.

Content (Syllabus outline)

Understanding spoken and written texts. Upgrading skills form Slovene morphology and syntax. Writing texts in Slovene language. Training oral expression in Slovene language. Upgrading vocabulary for communication on advanced everyday topics.

Learning and teaching methods

– teamwork; – individual work; – work in Internet classroom; – excursion. The information and communications technology is used for educational purposes in the teaching and learning process.

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

After the course student can: – communication in the most simple communication situations, – write short text for everyday use, – speak and write simply, but enough regularly and correctly for smooth communication.

Prerequisits

Knowledge of Slovene language on the level defined in Slovenian as a Second and Foreign Language 1 course syllabus. Checking prior knowledge will be carried out with test and oral exam. The examination is only for the students that previously Slovenian as a Second and Foreign Language 1 have not completed the subject. The course Slovenian as a Second and Foreign Language 2 is intended for foreign students of the University of Maribor to aquire basic language competences in the Slovenian language.
