Objectives and competences

To teach students from various UM faculties about the practical basics of their rights and obligations when performing work in the modern workplace (both as employees and in the context of student work). The aim is for students to enter the labour market with a better knowledge and practical understanding of their position as workers (or employer). Through lectures and guided practical case studies, students would also learn how to find (and assess the applicability of) relevant legal rules that address specific life situations (e.g., unjustified termination of a contract; personal data protection violations, etc.). Through the planned seminar paper and oral presentation, students would develop basic legal expression and research skills that would help them in practice to understand the obligations and protect their rights in the workplace.
