Students enchance their knowledge in the field of finance and know how to apply it to examples from the health sector and assessments of investments in healthcare. Adopt an applicitively useful approach to assessing the performance of health systems.

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

Students in this course: 1. Systematically upgrade their knowledge of the financial operations of healthcare providers (PILO 2a). 2. Compare and analyse the effectiveness and efficiency of healthcare providers' financial operations (PILO 2a, PILO 2b). 3. Critically analyse complex, incomplete and contradictory views on health sector financial issues and understandably explain the results of their critical analysis (PILO 2b, PILO 2c, PILO 3a). 4. Gain the ability to search for and synthesize new information and financial data of healthcare providers and the ability to place them in an appropriate professional framework (PILO 3a). 5. Are aware of the ethical and professional responsibility of healthcare providers and decision-makers in health systems (PILO 4a). 6. Critically assess the sustainable and social impact of the health sector (PILO 4b). The PILO label (i.e., Programme Intended Learning Outcomes) defines the contribution of each listed intended learning outcome of a course towards achieving the general and/or subject-specific competencies or learning outcomes acquired through the programme.
