Objectives and competences

Understanding the basics, and to apply the acquired knowledge to: - understanding of energy conversion principles and E-mobility in transport; - application of energy transmission, energy consumption and renewable energy sources; - determination of energy classes and energy performance certificate of buildings. To use and develop the ability of independent and creative solving of engineering problems.

Content (Syllabus outline)

The content of the course: a) Energy sources b) Energy conversion principles, energy transmission and energy consumption c) Renewable energy sources d) Distributed energy production e) E-mobility in transport f) Energy policy and legislation g) Efficient use of energy h) Energy-classification of buildings i) The energy performance certificate of buildings j) Zero - net energy buildings

Learning and teaching methods

Lectures: the student gets acquainted with theoretical content of the subject. Tutorial: the student upgrades the theoretical knowledge with practical experience.

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to: • of energy efficient design in the energetics, • to use energy policy and legislation and integration of the process of optimization when solving applicable projects.

Intended learning outcomes - transferable/key skills and other attributes

• solving concrete examples under supervision and hence developing student’s creativity, logical thinking and the ability of economically efficient designing, • autonomy in professional and research work.

Basic knowledge of mathematics and physics is recommended.
