Objectives and competences

• Raising awareness of the values of sport and, through this, influencing the formation of positive attitudes towards a healthy lifestyle. • Eliminating and preventing the consequences of lack of exercise and a care for improving psychophysical abilities, enhancing health. • Improving body and motor skills. • Understanding the importance of regular exercise. • Practical demonstration and execution of rowing by using different types of boats. • The acquired knowledge will enable the student to progress in the technical implementation, and to gain the necessary self-confidence and the sense of safety in rowing. • Developing lasting exercise habits in everyday life. • The use of acquired skills in everyday life and to compensate negative effects of one-sided workloads over the course of the study.

Content (Syllabus outline)

The theoretical contents refer to: • a healthy lifestyle, • the importance of a proper diet, • the specifics of the sport discipline (an overview of the evolution and progress of rowing, the various forms and methods of water activities, types of boats, knowing the rules and safety factors ). The practical contents refer to: • the proper implementation of various forms of activity on water (kayak, canoe, sup,) • the proper use of boats for raising awareness and safe rowing, • controlling the dynamics and the rhythm of boats, • spreading the spectrum regarding different types of rowing and movement on water

Learning and teaching methods

The following methods and forms of teaching will be used in the program: • the method of explanation and discussion (lectures), • the method of demonstration. Forms: • frontal learning, • individual learning, • group learning.

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

Knowledge and Understanding: The student: - knows the theory of active rest and different methods for regenerating the body; - understands the impact of exercise on maintaining health and well-being; - theoretically describes and demonstrates different forms and modes of movement of boats on water; - descibes and demonstrates basic principles, safety, water safety and water rescue rules; - demonstrates the control of dynamics and the rhythm of rowing.

Prerequisits

Understanding the values of a healthy lifestyle, sport, physical exercise and the desire for acquiring additional knowledge and skills in individual sport disciplines. • An additional mandatory prerequisit is the ability of swimming.
