Objectives and competences

1. The student understands the theories of physics and the physiology of diving. 2. The student is able to calculate the basic formulas of physical phenomena during a dive (pressure, volume, density) 3. The student distinguishes diving equipment and is able to choose, to assemble and disassemble it appropriately. 4. The student knows the international diving signs and knows how to use them in a given situation. 5. The student knows the theory of dive planning. 6. The student knows how to plan dives without decompression to a depth of 18m. 7. The student master’s the theoretical and practical basics of autonomous diving.

Learning and teaching methods

The following methods and forms of teaching will be used in the program: • the method of explanation and discussion (lectures), • the method of demonstration. Forms: • frontal learning, • individual learning, • group learning, • work in pairs.

Intended learning outcomes - knowledge and understanding

Knowledge and understanding: • The student distinguishes the physical influences in different waters during the dive, • the student is able to list different techniques for equalizing the pressure in the ears, • the student knows how to equalize the pressure in the ears, • the student is able to list the basic diving equipment, • the student knows how to choose, assemble and use diving equipment, • the student knows the importance of read values from diving instruments and their use, • the student is able to show the required diving signs, • the student is able to describe the specifics of diving in different underwater environments. • The student is able to describe the procedures of solving when problems occur on the surface of the water and during the dive. • The student knows how to plan recreational dives up to 18m without decompression. • The student knows how to use the basic functions of a diving computer. • The student knows the rules of scuba diving in a pairs. • The student masters the installation of a diving mask in the water. • The student is able to hold his breath and insert the regulator mouthpiece underwater. • The student knows how to use or offer an auxiliary regulator (Octupus) from a co-diver underwater. • The student master’s neutral buoyancy at any depth in the water with the help of autonomous diving equipment. • The student obtains internationally recognized PADI diving cards of an Open Water Diver (OWD) and the ability to dive in pairs up to a depth of 18 m. • • Note: For practical exercises, students will be divided into smaller groups and pairs. The practical part in the water is carried out after successfully completing the theoretical part (minimum 90% success at the test) under the guidance of a certified PADI instructor in one of the diving centres. When weather conditions allow (May-October), the planned exercises in the pool are carried out in shallow water in the sea (lake).
