Accessibility Statement

The University of Maribor is committed to ensuring the accessibility of the moja.UM website in accordance with the Accessibility of Websites and Mobile Applications Act (slov. Zakon o dostopnosti spletišč in mobilnih aplikacij).

Compliance Status

This accessibility statement applies to the my.UM website (moja.um.si/en). To meet accessibility requirements, several systemic adaptations have been implemented, including:

  • Keyboard navigation using the Tab key for a predictable traversal of webpage elements.
  • Full control and navigation of the website using only the keyboard.
  • A position indicator (breadcrumbs, WCAG AAA) is provided before the content to show users their current location on the website.
  • Text is designed to be as clear, simple, and well-structured as possible, using headings, paragraphs, and lists.
  • Alternative formats are provided for non-accessible content wherever possible, such as subtitles for video content, transcripts for podcasts, and textual descriptions for infographics.
  • Links are properly labelled and contain descriptions for screen readers.
  • Colour contrast on the website meets at least the WCAG 2.1 AA standard.
  • Responsive design ensures proper content adaptation across different screen resolutions, allowing for zooming up to 200% or 400% without loss of information.
  • Alternative text descriptions are provided for images.
  • Users can pause animations.

The website is maintained in accordance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 up to Level AA.

Compliance Level

The moja.UM website is partially compliant with the Accessibility of Websites and Mobile Applications Act. The reasons for partial, rather than full, compliance are outlined below.

Non-Accessible Content

We continuously monitor the accessibility of moja.UM and work to improve individual elements. However, some published content does not fully comply with accessibility requirements as set out by law. Some materials are intended for specialised or professional audiences and, due to their complexity, would impose a disproportionate burden to make fully accessible. As a result, certain sections of the website remain partially or less accessible. Despite these challenges, the University of Maribor remains committed to making all content as inclusive as possible for vulnerable user groups.

Examples of non-accessible content include:

  • Scanned documents in PDF format
  • Certain other text documents
  • Promotional elements such as images with embedded text (e.g., infographics)
  • Some video recordings
  • Some audio recordings
  • Certain modules or widgets on subpages
  • Various complex data tables

The presence of non-accessible content is due to the disproportionate burden of optimising them, particularly in terms of human and financial resources. However, we strive to provide alternative options for inaccessible content where feasible (e.g., transcripts for podcasts, textual explanations for infographics).

Due to frequent content updates, visitors may occasionally encounter accessibility issues despite our efforts to maintain an accessible and user-friendly website. We encourage users to share their experiences, as this helps us enhance accessibility further.
