How to learn the Slovene language?

Slovene is a Southern Slavic language with a 25-letter alphabet. It is one of the oldest Slavic languages in the world.

Check out Slovene Learning Online - a freely accessible online course in Slovene for foreigners, developed at the Centre for Slovene as a Second and Foreign Language in cooperation with the company DigiEd. The course is for all who wish to learn Slovene on their own in a simple, playful and effective way.

System of Tutoring and Mentoring

After the introduction of Bologna study programmes, the tutoring and mentoring system began to be developed at UM faculties. Its primary objectives are:

to make the transition from secondary school to university easier,
to assist students throughout their studies,
to establish good relations between students, professors, and the institution as a whole,
to overcome the traditional higher education system,
to improve the performance of students and to increase the number of students advancing to the next year of study, and
to improve the quality of the learning experience.

Tutoring models vary heavily among faculties. Depending on the year of study, the tutor can be either a senior student or a professor.

The Career Centre of the University of Maribor carries out activities related to the overall career development of students, graduates and seconday school students, the appropriate job search and their easier transition to the labour market.
